As God Is My Witness!

As God Is My Witness
[For The Prosecution]

"Call your first witness", the judge said. I fumbled for my brief, then mustered up the most confident tone I could find and said, "I call His Holy Majesty, God Almighty!".

On approaching the bench, He was instructed to place His right hand on the bible and repeat after the bailiff, "I (God Almighty), do solemnly swear to tell the Truth, the Whole Truth and nothing but the Truth". The bailiff asked again if God swore that this vow was, indeed, the Truth. God answered, "I am!". Then the unbelievable happened - God actually took the stand!

Sounds like fiction, doesn't it? But this is prose, not poetry; fact, not fantasy! It actually happened that way!

Long ago, in a far off time, it all began when God witnessed to man!

Okay, okay!... I get the picture. But what about that "prosecution" stuff? That's not in the bible, is it? Well, actually.......no, it's isn't. I mean the word "prosecution" isn't there, but...... well, let's take a look.

Webster's says the word "prosecute" means to "follow to the end". The end of what? Why the natural "end" of the thing, of course. If a thing had a beginning, it wouldn't mean much if it didn't also have a fitting end. One that was appropriate to the "nature" of the "thing" in question. If that "thing" was the Law of God, then we might suppose it's natural "end" would be Justice or Righteousness - right?

But remember, the Tabernacle was called the "Tent of Witness". "What witness", you say? The Witness that the Law was given to enforce - that Mercy was above the Law, and that God's Ultimate Law is His Nature, LOVE!

So we see the "end" of God is Love. And, (as God is my Witness), God asks us to "prosecute The Peace" (His, on earth).

"And just how are we supposed to do that", you ask? Well, we are God's NEW Tent of Witness. His Tabernacle of The Most High Law of Love; the Temple of His Holiness, even Himself.

But such things as went on in that other tent-of-skins now must also continue (in Spirit) in this skin-bag of self I call me; (He has another name for me, you know; a NEW name - but that's for Him to say, not me).

If the blood flowed; if there were sacrifices; If mortal meat was salted when offered by fire; if the Radiance of the Presence of the Lord was such as might purge of any mortal priest; if a High Priest was present to Judge, Discern, and Administer; and if Peace Promised was Pronounced by God Himself to man there; then here too such things must continue unto that "end".

For to that "end" (Peace) He came unto us - as our Witness, to Prosecute His Peace among men of God's Will, (Good), and bring an end to Enmity Forever!

"This is He That came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit That beareth witness, because the Spirit is the Truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear record in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one."-1Jn 5:6-8.

Our witness is God's Peace on earth! And, as God IS our Witness, He's watching our Peace - are we?
