"Enriched"; "making many rich"; being enriched" - BY HIM! These are the only three times this Greek word "Ploutizo" is used in the New Testament. And most translations use some form of the English word "rich". But the root of the Greek word implies something much more. It means to fill and fulfill with abundance of wealth, to complete and accomplish (as in the ripeness and maturity unto fruition), or to furnish lavishly.
In all of these we get the feeling of an action or process more than merely a gift. The emphasis is not so much on the recipient, as the processor! But let's take a look at some other words that confer a similar meaning.
2Tim 3:17 "That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly
furnished unto all good works."
Gen 22:8 "And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself
a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together."
Heb 11:40 "God having provided some better thing for us,
that they without us should not be made perfect."
Lk 12:20 "But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy
soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be,
which thou hast provided?".
Phil 4:19 "But my God shall supply all your need according
to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
Phil 1:19,20 "For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, According to my earnest expectation and my hope,".
We begin to see just how it is that we are the "husbandry" of His Handiwork, the Garden of His Planting, and the Masterpiece of His Forming as Paul indicates;
Phil 1:6 "Being confident of this very thing, that he
which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day
of Jesus Christ:".
And we can see why Paul could make such a statement as in
2Tim 1:12 "...for I know whom I have believed, and am
persuaded that he is able to keep (perform, provide) that which
I have committed unto him against that day."
God has "enriched" us greatly with His Word, His Promise, and His Person (Performance of the Promise). He Who now indwells us Personally, continues to Provide by "keeping" our "word" to Him! [Lest anyone should be the slightest bit "puffed up" (proud), He is our Obedience, Faith, Love and Devotion (Sacrifice) to our Heavenly Father]
No, not just "enriched" (as gifted), but fulfilled as in an on-going Relationship with the Person of Perfection, Himself! The "Wealth" is all one-Way; His, to us! Now that's RICH!
