...AND REPENTETH HIM OF EVIL!

[Joel 2:13]

Does man ever condescend to God? (The word "condescend" means to "step down"). One would think such a thing impossible: how could a mere mortal step down to God? And, thanks be to God, "one" would be right; it is impossible!

But man does it all the time! HOW? By setting himself above God! Oh, it's a lie & all, but when has a "little" thing like a lie ever stopped man? In fact, there's an old saying I like; "give 'er take a lie or two!" (it says something about man's ways, 'donchaknow!').

But God's Ways are not man's! There are two BIG words that we need to know about; 1- "Anthropo-morphism" ("like man"-"change to be"), and 2- "Anthropo-pathism" ("like man"-"feelings or motives").

These words are made-up of just three Greek words; 1- Anthropo = "man"; 2- Morpho(ism) = "change(ling)"; and 3- Pathos(ism) = "emotions which cause".

Man attributes what he knows (in his ignorance, deceived) to God! He thinks he has a pretty good idea of Who and What God is or should be!

But God's Attributes are not left for us to speculate about - He plainly shows and tells us about Himself. ("I am gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and I repenteth of evil")-(Joel 2:13, paraphrased).

Jesus Christ IS God's Repentance-for-mankind INCARNATE!

Why won't man believe that? Because it (God's Cross) 'flies in the face' of everything man "knows" (or has jumped to the conclusion of).

Man must conclude (judge). But only God finishes what only God began. Man's merely 'caught-in-the-midst', so to speak.

Therefore, in the meantime, man must learn to approach God "as a child"!

"Just as I am" means naked, lost, helpless and ignorant. And so, we come!

"Who knoweth if He will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind Him!"-Joel 2:14. For THIS poor soul..., ...that repentance +IS+ Jesus Christ!
