How the names and titles given to our Lord multiply as we go through the prophesy of Isaiah! In the first verse of this chapter we viewed Him as "A Rod" and "A Branch", and now He is called "The Root". Thank God, there is coming a time when our Lord's rest will be glorious. Not now, but in the good, glad day when He comes to gather His people --- Jews and Gentiles --- to Himself. The root is not dead, but will spring up and bring forth an ensign for the people.
Dear Lord Jesus, we are grateful that through Thee, as "The Root of Jesse", the door is open for all, both Jew and Gentile, to enter the Gates of Heaven and enjoy eternal rest and peace with Thee. Amen.
