Hebr 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of [them], and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims> ["exiles"-RSV] on the earth. {in faith: Gr. according to faith} 1Pet 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers ["aliens"-RSV] and pilgrims ["exiles"-RSV], abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
To whom could this title refer save to Jesus Christ? We read in Ezk 34:23: "And I will set up one Shepherd over them, and he shall feed them; even my servant David." Our Lord was of the family of David, and He is the true David, and the true "Shepherd King". He has all Authority and all Power, and He feeds the flock and guards them in His own sheepfold from the wolves. How does He feed us? With His own Blood with which He purchased us. (Jn 6:55) Trust all to Him. Listen to His call. Feed from His hand and drink of the Living Water which He offers.
Thou Shepherd of Israel teach us day by day to listen to Thy tender Voice and feed in Thy pastures. Amen.
