"THE ROSE OF SHARON"
Song 2:1 I [am] the rose of Sharon, [and] the lily of the valleys.
The "Rose of Sharon" was, in reality, just a flower of the field; not distinguished; a lowly but a lovely flower. How marvelous that the Holy Spirit, then, should apply this title to our Lord Who "made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant". Paul said of himself, "I am less than the least of all saints", and exhorted the believers to "let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus". A true, Christ-like humility should characterize Christians, and it does those who are nearest to His heart. "Seekest thou great things for thyself?... seek them not", but seek to reflect the life of "The Rose of Sharon".
Thou blessed Rose of Sharon, we bow to Thee with grateful hearts and crave for a life like Thine! Amen.
