Hebr 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of [them], and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims> ["exiles"-RSV] on the earth. {in faith: Gr. according to faith} 1Pet 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers ["aliens"-RSV] and pilgrims ["exiles"-RSV], abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
The whole chapter should be read to get the full illustration. Here we have a type of our Lord Jesus Christ in His perfect, sinless humanity. He is the "meal offering" in which there is no suggestion of blood, no sin-offering, but Christ in His Life on earth that is represented --- the holy, pure, perfect Man. This makes Him very near and very dear to us --- a Man, a realMan, a sympathizing, loving Man, Who came to earth for the one purpose, to prepare the Way for us!
Oh, Thou Who art our "Meal Offering", impress Thine Image upon the tablets of our memory. Amen.
