Hebr 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of [them], and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims> ["exiles"-RSV] on the earth. {in faith: Gr. according to faith} 1Pet 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers ["aliens"-RSV] and pilgrims ["exiles"-RSV], abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Gideon had destroyed the altar of Baal and Israel was oppressed by the Midianites. God sent a prophet in answer to their prayer who said, "The Lord is -WITH- you!", and He was! To commemorate this event, Gideon built an altar and called it "Jehovah Shalom!", ("The Lord is my Peace!".) Will Jehovah do for us today what He did for Gideon? Why do we doubt? Why do we dishonor Him by our lack of Faith in His Promises? Is not the Cross of Christ the Abiding Testimony of His Devotion? Let us keep in fellowship -WITH- Him and know the Peace which garrisons our souls.
Lord Jesus, how we thank Thee that Thou art our Peace which passeth all understanding! Amen.
