Deeper-Life deals with "MEAT". Once a NewBorn Christian has begun to grow and to develop he needs real Nourishment from God's Living, Written Word-Will, the Bible. Unfortunately, he all-too-soon learns that the Bible is NOT just what people SAY it is. That is, the Babe-in-Christ is usually shocked and hurt by learning that men have a whole variety of very different opinions about just what they THINK God Means by this or that Scripture - and that there is at least as much HATERED as LOVE between such "Brothers" when it comes to any AGREEMENT or CONCORD over the Word!

Such a tug-of-war over 'issues' {howsoever religious they may appear} tends to force the neophyte into one "camp" {these are certainly WAR camps, alright!} or the other. And there is usually no lack of coercion on the part of the different camp's parties as to just how important and vital it is to "stand" with them against the obvious HERESIES of the other side. This is, of course, tragic - even devastating.

At some point a NewCreature-in-Christ must GROW UP and determine that, although other creatures are certainly very important, nevertheless, those creatures neither Died for nor can truly succor or help them with any real Power in any time of need! It was not any man who Saved them, but Jesus Christ - PERSONALLY! And they begin to turn to Him DIRECTLY for help in their time of need!

It is at this point a Christian begins to Learn of God - FROM God Himself. And soon he finds that there is this growing hunger for God's Living Word growing mysteriously where it never was before - inside him. And there also seems a real need to take time OUT of his daily stuggle and work-a-day routine and MAKE a place for regular quiet-times WITH-GOD in solemn contemplation. In short, he has decided to GET SERIOUS about his RELATIONSHIP-WITH God!

NOW he has some REAL questions! Not mere impertinences masquerading as serious inquiries. It is very odd how God seems to KNOW when we have learned HOW to ask - that is, in what ATTITUDE or spirit - and when we are only kidding ourselves in a vain attempt to fool God. But there are real needs. Real questions that God Asks us to "Ask, Seek & Knock". If we are to have a REAL Relationship WITH God, and if we are SUPPOSED to Hear Christ {as Jesus Said in Jn 10:27} then we certainly NEED such communication with our Heavenly Father, as He surely will not deny us.

Enter "Deeper-Life"! The 'how-to' of Christianity. {"Now that I AM a Christian, and I am SUPPOSED to be all of these things and be able to DO all of these things, HOW DO I DO IT?"} It is to this end these essays and everything else on the Pilgrim's Path is dedicated! God has certainly not HID Himself from man. And, if we are serious and diligent and sincere and in need, will God NOT Hear and ANSWER us?

CAPTURE THE BOSS!	[1060 words]... Who wants to listen to harshness - or criticism? Who wants to hear about the cross all the time? Why should we want to hear Christ's "HARD WORDS"? And who seeks the discipline and the correction of God?		TEXT
The "Cross" Of CHOICE!	[996 words]... We have to choose to renounce the world; to deny self; to follow Christ! There are hard choices to be made if we are to shun and fast and wait and endure and suffer the "fiery trials" that are to test our faith {1Pt 4:12}. We are called to rejoice in these trials, as Peter says; "Beloved, I beseech you as aliens and exiles to abstain from (shun) the passions (lusts) of the flesh that wage war against your soul!" {1 Pt 2:11}. These choices are often a crucifixion - a cross. And Jesus said that any who would not "take up his cross" and chose this self-denial of "laying down our life for Him" are not worthy to be His disciples! {Lk 14:27}		TEXT
